Warrnambool’s wonderful food scene will be broadcast nationally in primetime when Ainsley’s Market Menu airs on SBS at 7.30pm on Thursday October 17.

Celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott visited Warrnambool in February to film the episode, with locations including the Fresh Market, the Pavilion, Lana’s Garden and Kermond’s Hamburgers.

Warrnambool was one of only six Australian towns chosen for the series.

The show sees Harriott embark on a fun-filled food adventure through some of Australia’s most diverse and colourful produce markets.

Warrnambool Mayor Tony Herbert said that the show would promote Warrnambool as a food destination to be savoured.

“As well as being located in one of Australia’s most productive agriculture regions, south-west Victoria is also home to some very talented and passionate people who help to create the vibrant food scene we all enjoy,” he said.

“When filming wrapped up in February, my next thought was ‘when will the show be broadcast’ because I just couldn’t wait to see our story told to millions of people around Australia and the world.

“Warrnambool was recently named Australia’s most liveable city by global research firm Ipsos, and when you watch SBS on Thursday, you’ll have an idea why.”

Fresh Market Manager Tania Ferris said that she was excited for the world to see the diverse food culture in Warrnambool.

“I have seen the footage and Warrnambool is showcased and presented at the highest level,” she said.

“It captures the impressive food industry across the South West region and highlights just how spectacular Warrnambool really is.

“From produce grown on our rolling green pastures to the freshest seafood – we really have it all.”

The episode will also be made available online at www.sbs.com.au/ondemand.
